Financial Policy

Effective Date: January 2024

At Border DME, our Financial Policy ensures clear communication about billing, insurance claims, and payment procedures. In addition, we aim to help every patient understand their financial responsibilities and available payment options.

Insurance Verification

Before providing any equipment or supplies, we verify your insurance coverage. This step helps confirm eligibility and benefits. However, keep in mind that final payment decisions come directly from your insurance company.

Patient Financial Responsibility

Patients are responsible for any charges not covered by insurance. For instance, this includes:

  • Deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance amounts
  • Non-covered or denied services and supplies
  • Items outside insurance guidelines or without required authorization

After insurance payment is processed, you’ll receive a statement for any remaining balance. Therefore, please review your bill carefully and contact us if you have questions.

Non-Covered Products

Some products may not qualify for insurance coverage. For example, convenience items, upgrades, or elective equipment often require out-of-pocket payment. Nevertheless, we always inform you beforehand whenever possible.

Payment Options

We offer several convenient payment methods. Moreover, our team can help you choose the one that works best for you:

  • Credit or debit card
  • ACH bank draft
  • CareCredit
  • Other approved financing arrangements

Payment is due at the time of service for cash-pay items. Likewise, for insurance balances, payment is required upon receiving your billing statement. Additionally, please contact us if you need help setting up a payment plan.

Returns and Exchanges

Because of hygiene and federal regulations, most medical equipment cannot be returned once opened or used. However, if a product is defective or damaged, please contact our office to discuss replacement options.

Collections

If payment is not received within the stated terms, the account may be referred to a collection agency. As a result, additional fees or legal costs could apply. Therefore, we encourage you to reach out early to avoid this situation.

Policy Updates

Border DME may update this Financial Policy at any time. When updates occur, we’ll post changes on this page with a new effective date. Consequently, we recommend checking this page regularly for the most current information.
